Payroll Analyst (Manhattan)

Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support end-to-end payroll processing within a large, multi-state organization. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll across both union and non-union populations while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of payroll processes, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in a fast-paced environment.7-month contract with extensionsKey ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll end-to-end for multi-frequency payroll cyclesAudit and reconcile HR and payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepanciesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including multi-state payroll requirementsReconcile payroll integrations, bank files, and related systemsManage employee garnishments, ensuring timely and compliant setup and processingGenerate ad hoc payroll reports for internal stakeholders as neededRespond to employee payroll inquiries, resolving issues in a timely and professional mannerStay up to date on payroll regulations and compliance requirementsPartner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and IT teams to support payroll operationsSupport system testing for upgrades, enhancements, and tax updatesAssist with special projects and process improvements as neededMust-Have Qualifications3+ years of payroll experience in a large, complex organizationStrong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracyIntermediate Excel skills (data review, reconciliation, reporting)Understanding of payroll processes and how they align with HR policies/programsAbility to handle confidential information with discretionStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentSelf-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaborativelyStrong customer service mindsetNice-to-Have QualificationsExperience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or another large HCM systemExposure to union payroll environments (highly preferred but not required)Flexibility to support SAP-related projects or system initiativesPlussesKnowledge of payroll accounting principlesFamiliarity with wage and hour laws and SOX complianceExperience working in multi-state payroll environments
