Summary:
Just A Dash is seeking a reliable and hardworking driver / porter / food service worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including deliveries, vehicle maintenance, general porter and food service duties when not driving or delivering. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to perform physical tasks.
Responsibilities:
Driving & Delivery:
Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for pickups and deliveries.
Transport materials, equipment, or goods to designated locations in a timely manner.
Ensure all delivery documentation is accurate and completed correctly (e.g., invoices, delivery logs).
Communicate with supervisor to receive delivery instructions and updates.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance while representing the company.
Vehicle Maintenance & Porter Duties:
Perform routine checks on company vehicles, including fuel, oil, tire pressure, and fluid levels.
Keep vehicles clean, both inside and out.
Assist with the loading and unloading of goods and equipment.
Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the cafeteria and kitchen areas.
Move and organize equipment, supplies, and materials as needed.
Assist other team members with various tasks as directed by your supervisor.
General:
Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
Report any vehicle issues, accidents, or damage to management immediately.
Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with customers and colleagues.
Follow all company procedures and protocols.
Food Service Duties:
o Arranges food and beverage items daily in a serving line for serving food to students and staff in a neat, organized and efficient manner.
o Collects daily items to be processed for recording, reporting and/or sending on to other personnel.
o Assists daily in operating POS/Point of Sale for food items from students and staff for completing transactions and securing funds for food selection.
o Inventories daily food, condiments, and supplies for ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
o Maintains daily equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting steam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for compliance with local health standards and Just A Dash standards and ensuring the safety of all food products.
o Reports equipment malfunctions for compliance with local health standards and Just A Dash
o Maintains storage areas for ensuring a clean and safe work area daily.
o Models a high standard of Customer Service and nondiscriminatory practices in all daily activities.
o Prepares food and beverage items for meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements daily.
o Able to work in a kitchen environment, i.e. (heat, cold, steam and smoke) routinely.
o Able to perform job under time deadlines consistently
o Ability to prepare menu items daily following National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines as per the production record, using approved Just A Dash Catering or United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recipes.
o Daily Compliance with food safety practices as outlined in the Illinois Food Code for food safety.
o Ability to follow all Just a Dash policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Just A Dash Standard Training Operating Procedures (S.T.O.P.) Manual.
o Reconciles daily meals served and meals delivered to meal counts to maintain accurate records and comply with established policies and/or procedures.
o Reports equipment malfunctions for notifying supervisor of need for repair and/or replacement.
o Serves all food items for meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
o Attends all mandatory scheduled meetings, participates in onsite training, etc. for gaining information required to perform job functions.
o Maintain all daily, weekly and monthly forms and reports relating to production, delivery and leftover foods.
o Ability to follow direction from Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Proven experience in a driving or delivery role is preferred.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects (e.g., up to 50 lbs).
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with roads and traffic patterns.
Ability to drive in varying weather conditions (e.g., rain, sleet, snow)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
