Lead Network Engineer – Design & EngineeringIrving, TXWe are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join the Network Design and Engineering team. This role serves as a technical authority and hands-on leader , responsible for designing, validating, and delivering enterprise network solutions that are secure, scalable, and operationally resilient.The Lead Network Engineer partners closely with engineering peers, operations, security, cloud teams, and delivery partners to ensure network solutions are well-architected, thoroughly tested, documented, and production-ready . This role is critical to sustaining the Network Design and Engineering team's reputation as a trusted advisor to units and technology partners.Position DescriptionKey AccountabilitiesAct as a technical lead for the design and delivery of enterprise network infrastructure initiativesDesign, test, and document complex network solutions aligned to business, security, and operational requirementsLead implementation of network changes, upgrades, and expansions , ensuring stability and minimal operational impactProvide deep technical oversight during delivery, validating designs, configurations, and deployment approachesIdentify technical risks and design gaps early, and drive engineering led mitigation strategiesArchitect and deliver solutions leveraging software defined (SDx) principles and modern network architecturesWork across technologies including Aruba (CX) , Cisco (Viptela, Meraki) , InfoBlox , and Palo AltoServe as a last-tier escalation engineer , providing asrequired afterhours support for critical incidentsAnalyze complex and diverse environments, developing repeatable, standardized solutionsMentor and guide engineers, raising technical depth, design rigor, and operational readiness across the teamCollaborate closely with security, cloud, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure holistic and secure designsParticipate in technical reviews, design forums, and stakeholder discussions, clearly articulating risks, tradeoffs, and recommendationsMinimum RequirementsTypically 10+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or technical network serviceQualificationsAdvanced experience architecting, implementing, and troubleshooting complex enterprise networksProven technical leadership on large scale network initiatives in enterprise environmentsDeep expertise in LAN, WAN, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, and VPN technologiesStrong experience with detailed network design, validation, and documentationHandson experience applying automation and scripting within software defined networksFamiliarity with public cloud networking constructs (AWS, Azure, GCP)Experience working with vendor delivered and partner supported network solutionsSolid understanding of delivery lifecycles, change management, and operational readinessMinimum 2 years' experience with automation, software development, or virtualization technologiesAdditional ExperienceExperience in healthcare, distribution, or software environments is a plusStrong technical curiosity with the ability to rapidly learn and evaluate new technologiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical and executive audiencesDemonstrated technical thought leadership and innovationStrong interpersonal skills to build trust across engineering, operations, and business teamsProven ability to exercise sound professional judgment and security first engineering practicesExperience supporting always on, highly available enterprise environmentsStrong understanding of how people, systems, and processes behave during incidents or crisis situationsTrack record of working across organizational boundaries to resolve complex, high impact technical challengesEducationBachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
