We design and manufacture a wide range of innovative connectors as well as cable assemblies for diverse applications including server, storage, data center, mobile, RF, networking, industrial, business equipment, and automotive.As a Thermal R&D Engineer on our Power Solutions R&D engineering team, you will work in collaboration within the cross‐functional team and with customers to develop the latest technology for the Power Solutions product portfolio. This position will provide thermal engineering support to our team and our customer's program, and associated engineers. The role is responsible for the use of thermal models/analyses, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and lab test correlation to drive thermal management of our product development and product solutions for our customers.ResponsibilitiesProvide accurate modeling, thermal simulations, and characterization of power products and system architectureCorrelate simulation results with test dataProvide design guidance and consideration to customers on power applications against their design requirementsPerform design feasibility experiments and verifications to determine thermal impact of product solutionsBuild technical relationships with our customer's engineering and thermal teamsProvide world‐class technical support to our customersQualificationsBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field3+ years of experience in CFD simulation and thermal analysisStrong knowledge of heat transfer, thermal dynamics, thermal management of electronics, and advanced electronic cooling methods and thermal compliance testing standardsExperience with direct liquid cooling is a plusFamiliar with commercial CFD tools, including ANSYS Icepak and/or similar software package (e.g., FloTHERM)Familiar with EIA, UL standardsProficient in mechanical design and 3D modeling using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and/or SolidWorksStrong skills of presenting thermal solutions and thermal analysis results to internal design teams, high level leadership, and external customers engineering teamsExcellent written and oral communications skills; ability to express technical content clearly and concisely, work with cross‐functional teams, including mechanical engineers, marketing, sales, etc.Amphenol Corporation is proud of our reputation as an excellent employer.
