Mainframe Programmer (Z/OS) - Onsite

JOB DESCRIPTION: 1. Programming and configuring 60+ mainframe applications, including z/OS. 2. Monitoring performance of, and resolving issues with, the Xerox printers, IBM mainframe, mainframe security (Resource Access Control Facility (RACF)), iSeries server (AS400), and EMC disc and tape storage. 3. Work with EFSS staff and management to support all activities related to the Department’s financial systems and other related areas. 4. Serve as a subject matter advisor to the Department. 5. Assist the Department in planning, strategy, and execution activities. 6. Identify risks associated with the services performed under this SOW. 7. Provide all related documents, software, and other project artifacts to the Department’s Contract Manager. 8. Facilitate lessons learned meetings and create a lesson(s) learned document. 9. Provide additional project support, including, but not limited to, the following: a) Review all artifacts created by or for EFSS related to financial systems projects. b) Coordinate communication between the OIT, State agencies, and other entities. c) Facilitate meetings, promote collaboration, and provide training as needed. d) Research, collect, evaluate, or refine tools, approaches, and solutions to specific challenges related to financial systems, as identified by EFSS. e) Assist in developing reports and analyzing usage, data, and performance. 10. Perform enhancement and maintenance of, and support, the Department’s mainframe and operational environment, including, but not limited to, the following: a) Perform day-to-day activities and resolve issues that occur within the database and mainframe environments, support updates and major upgrades, and recommend and implement system enhancements. b) Participate in disaster recovery or planning activities. c) Provide knowledge transfer. d) Document:  Evaluation of available mainframe or database software and tools.  Recommendations for tool upgrades or replacements.  Recommendations for file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures.  Procedures for Natural/ADABAS administration.  Installation procedures.  Information about each component within the system architecture.  Business and technical requirements. e) Implement and test system modifications, upgrades, or installations. f) Create a knowledge transfer plan for the State’s supported financial systems. Job Type: Contract Pay: From $1.00 per hour Schedule: 8 hour shift Ability to commute/relocate: Tallahassee, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Experience: Z/OS: 5 years (Required) administering mainframe security (RACF): 5 years (Required) APIs: 1 year (Preferred) Work Location: In person
