Job Title: DERMS IT System Engineer (Expert) – ContractLocation: Hybrid (Oakland, CA)Duration: Contract 12 MonthsAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced DERMS IT System Engineer to support a leading utility client, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), in advancing grid modernization and distributed energy integration initiatives.This is a high-impact technical role focused on DER integration, 2030.5 protocol, and site commissioning within a smart grid environment. You will work closely with electrical distribution teams, aggregators, and vendor platforms (including Schneider Electric) to support deployment and interoperability across multiple control sites.Key Responsibilities🔌 Commissioning & InteroperabilityLead and support site commissioning activities for DER integration projectsCoordinate with distribution engineers, aggregators, and vendors for deployment and testingEnsure smooth interoperability between field devices, control systems, and DERMS platformSupport SCADA integration, signal validation, and control site implementationTrack and manage commissioning schedules, issues, and deliverables⚙️ System Support & IntegrationProvide L1/L2 support for DERMS platform and associated integrationsTroubleshoot and resolve issues with internal teams and external vendorsSupport integrations across:SCADA / ADMS systemsWeather, GIS, and API servicesAPI gateways (Apigee), secure file transfers, and cloud interfacesAssist with system upgrades, patches, and configuration managementRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in IT systems or utility/energy environmentsHands-on experience with 2030.5 (SEP2) protocol or similar DER communication standardsStrong experience in commissioning / deploying field or grid-connected systemsKnowledge of electric distribution systems, SCADA, ADMS, or DMSExperience with system integration, APIs (REST), and hybrid cloud environmentsFamiliarity with TLS, PKI certificates, IAM/SSO authentication mechanismsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with DERMS platformsBackground in electric utilities or grid operationsFamiliarity with tools such as SCADA, GIS, OMS, or OSIsoft PIExperience with vendor platforms like Schneider Electric EcoStruxureStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsWhy Join?Work on cutting-edge grid modernization and DER integration initiativesCollaborate with leading utility and energy technology teamsGain hands-on experience with real-world deployment and smart grid systemsInterested?Apply now or reach out directly to learn more about this opportunity.
