We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Clinical Risk Assessment RN to serve as the medical expert within our Underwriting Department.In this unique role, you will act as the medical “translator” for underwriting and claims teams—reviewing medical records, legal documents, and claims data to assess risk for insured healthcare providers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN who enjoys investigative chart review, clinical analysis, and big-picture decision-making in a professional office setting.No prior insurance experience is required—we provide full training and mentorship to help you successfully transition into the insurance and risk management field.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Risk EvaluationReview medical records, legal expert opinions, and claims documentation to evaluate the risk profile of current and prospective insured physiciansUnderwriting PartnershipCollaborate closely with the Underwriting team and staff physician to determine policy terms, pricing adequacy, and renewal eligibility based on clinical history and practice patternsTrend AnalysisIdentify trends and patterns in claims data to help predict future risks and support the development of data-driven underwriting guidelinesClaims Deep-DivesPartner with the Claims team to analyze new professional liability filings and provide detailed summaries of medical liability and financial exposureStrategic ReportingPrepare comprehensive reports and present findings to senior leadership regarding portfolio performance and overall professional liability riskInnovation & Process ImprovementUtilize risk-monitoring tools, reporting systems, and data automation strategies to improve how insured practices and risk trends are tracked and analyzedRequired QualificationsActive degree and clinical background as a Registered Nurse (RN) requiredMinimum of 3 years of direct healthcare/patient care experienceStrong ability to interpret and analyze complex medical terminology, clinical documentation, and healthcare systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate clinical findings into clear business language for non-clinical stakeholdersDemonstrated professionalism and discretion when handling highly sensitive and confidential informationStrong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort learning new data analysis tools and systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience reviewing medical records, quality assurance, case management, utilization review, or risk management strongly preferredInterest in transitioning from bedside care into a corporate healthcare or insurance settingStrong critical thinking and investigative skills with a “detective mindset”Why Join Us?This is a rare opportunity to step away from direct patient care and into a high-impact strategic role where your clinical expertise drives business decisions.
