Substitute Nurse

STATUS: Substitute, as neededREPORTS TO: Principal, Director of NursingPOSITION SUMMARY: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the District Schools.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:RN in the State of MissouriGraduate from an accredited nursing school.Currently registered in the State of Missouri.CPR/AED certifiedJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Conducts school health services including assisting the school doctor and in physical examinations, and tests for vision, hearing and scoliosis.Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and reports to the school principal those students in compliance with health requirements.Administers medication and first aid as necessary per established procedures.Makes notification to parents of students who may be in need of additional medical and dental services.Participates with school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.Prepares and submits in a timely manner necessary reports.Participates in in-service training programs.Requisitions supplies as needed through the Director of Nursing.Maintains a record of students and staff who have been seen and/or treated by school nurse.Advises school personnel in regard to health matters related to students in the school.Arranges for substitutes when nursing staff is absent.Schedules school doctor's visits to schools for physicals (student and employee).Organizes CPR classes and the distribution of flu vaccines as needed.Prepares communications to be sent home to parents as needed.The Fox C-6 School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
