Your primary goal will be to help people improve their speech and language skills, as well as their ability to swallow. You will be assisting patients who have disabilities or experienced traumatic events that left them with speech, voice, or swallowing impairments.Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to: Assessment and Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, Therapy Implementation, Counseling and Education, Monitoring and Adjusting, Documentation, Collaboration, Professional Development, Ethics and Confidentiality and Advocacy. To succeed as a speech pathologist, you should be willing to alter treatment plans to better suit the individual needs of a diverse patient population.
