Click hereSUMMARY:The Machine Operator 1 reports to the Packaging Manager and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with our processing and packaging process for coffee and teaSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Willing to learn how to operate all packaging equipment on the production floorMindful of and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), quality and food safety requirementsAlways be alert, mindful and successfully identify when the following quality control measures are needed and follow through as required to resolve by completing the following but not limited to:Recognize when there is a heat problem and adjust heat as neededPut tape on the tape machine and adjust as needed for different productsPut case labels in the computer and thread the label through the label makerChange the case countSetup film registration as needed and adjust for package appearanceEnter pack print info into pack printer, thread pack printer, and adjust pack printer on pack for proper alignmentThread valves through valve applier, adjust valve on packs as needed for package appearancePerform quality checks during the run, weights, seals, and appearance of packageEnsure all bottles are presentable and sealed tightlyEnsure all labels are as straight as possible when applying to casesEnsure all pallets are stacked as straight as possibleStrict adherence to all company policiesAll other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The ability to maintain a good attendance record per company policyMust have basic reasoning abilities, to include:Applying common sense in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructionsAbility to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situationsAbility, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence, including daily production line sheets, operator check off sheets, machine operating instructions, safety instructions and any training materials (including safety instructions for forklifts and hand jacks)Ability to understand the data line sheet system and fill out all appropriate paperworkAbility to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract and multiply using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distanceBasic inputs into computer via keyboard and bar code scans into computer systemThe ability to successfully complete the pre-employment processPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma (or an equivalent such as a GED) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and stand and walk for extended periods of timeAbility to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment to perform quality checks during the run, weights, seals, and appearance of package by squeezing and physically handling packsAbility to lift up to 35lbs and carry 25lbsAbility to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to stack product and to clean/maintain equipmentAbility to balance and reach up and forward up to 48’’ and overhead up to 84’’ to access equipment, machinery, or productMust be at least hand jack certified or willing to train and acquire proper certification to prove safe operation.
