About the Opportunity: Support Accountant
A long-established, values-driven nonprofit organization in the Portland area is expanding its finance team and seeking a Community Support Accountant to provide accounting and bookkeeping support to multiple entities and locations across the Portland metro area.
This is a hybrid, traveling role, typically spending 2–3 days per week on-site at different locations, with flexibility for remote work depending on business needs. No overnight travel is required. Each week offers a mix of locations, responsibilities, and meaningful connection to the organization’s mission. You’ll be a trusted financial partner—bringing clarity to numbers, confidence to leadership, and steady support to teams doing important work in the community.
Responsibilities of the Role: Support Accountant
Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple assigned entities and locations
Manage day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and bank/credit card reconciliations
Process vendor invoices, payments, and deposits in accordance with internal controls and accounting policies
Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and monthly financial statements
Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and reporting
Assist with budgets, cash flow forecasting, and internal controls
Support fixed assets and depreciation schedules
Provide light HR-related support such as benefits administration and personnel file maintenance
Preferred Qualification: Support Accountant
Experience in nonprofit, fund accounting, or multi-entity environments strongly preferred
Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online preferred; Desktop a plus) and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approach
Willingness and ability to travel locally throughout the Portland metro area
