Group Fitness Trainer
Functions:
Under the direction of the Health Club General Manager, the Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, organization and implementation of all assigned fitness programs.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
A minimum one year of experience of fitness supervision.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have valid Florida Driver’s License.
First Aid/AED/CPR certified.
Ability to work independently day-to-day operations with general direction from the Health Club General Manager.
Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work.
Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
Must also show evidence of continual growth and development in the field of fitness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Maintain the program environment in a clean and orderly fashion.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for participants.
Responsible for maintaining an open line of communication with the Health Club General Manager regarding all situations concerning the program, participants and staff.
Communicate effectively with staff, participants, and parents.
Fill out and turn in accident reports the night they occur. Report any major accidents to the Health Club General Manager immediately.
Responsible for keeping up to date attendance records for each class.
Work with the Health Club General Manager to schedule programs for each seasonal brochure.
Call participants to cancel classes or rearrange classes in case of emergencies.
Complete a daily inspection of all fitness equipment and document it on the appropriate form.
Plan and carry out each assigned fitness program to the best of their ability.
If not able to work, let the Health Club General Manager know immediately.
Environmental Considerations: Performs most activities indoors. Might be exposed to all conditions indoor such as lighting, temperature, noise level.

Must be able to follow directions and perform work activities as assigned by the Health Club General Manager.
Must be able to communicate effectively and be organized in their daily tasks.
Must be able to work closely with co‐workers and other employees.
Must be able to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
Must use good judgment and possess and use effective problem-solving skills.
Use basic math, reading and writing skills.
Follow step‐by‐step procedures and obtain end result.
Psychological Considerations:
Must remain aware at all times of safety issues and use good judgment.
Must have ability to deal with other people under stressful situations.
May have to work under stressful conditions including assisting in providing basic first aid.
Must be able to work independently.
Must show leadership and initiative and motivate participants.
Physiological Considerations:
May need to respond to situations quickly and accurately.
Must be in good physical condition.
