The Designer will develop plans, create submittals, coordinate installations with field teams, and ensure projects meet all fire life safety codes and regulatory requirements.While the position is primarily office-based in Oakland, designers will occasionally conduct field site surveys to create sketches and verify building conditions, helping ensure accurate system designs.This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization where designers have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while collaborating with experienced field and service teams.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate fire sprinkler design plans, blueprints, and detailed drawingsPerform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systemsDesign systems for high-rise buildings, fire pump systems, and complex projectsPrepare and submit submittal packages to contractors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)Obtain permits and coordinate approvals with local jurisdictionsCoordinate closely with field installation teams to ensure design accuracyCommunicate timelines and project updates to customers and contractorsOrder materials and components needed for field installationsSupport sales, service, and field teams with code expertiseFollow up on submittals and approvals to maintain project schedulesConduct site surveys and develop sketches for design accuracyManage multiple projects simultaneously from design through completionQualificationsMinimum 5+ years of fire sprinkler design experience in the Fire Life Safety industryStrong knowledge of Fire Life Safety codes including:NFPACalifornia Fire Code (CFC)International Building Code (IBC)International Fire Code (IFC)Ability to perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systemsExperience reviewing specifications, contract drawings, and bid plansExperience coordinating field teams to ensure installations follow design plansProficiency with:AutoCADMicrosoft Office SuiteExperience with MEP design tools such as AutoSPRINK, AlarmCAD, or HydraCAD strongly preferredNICET certification is a plusAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentKey Traits for SuccessDetail oriented with strong organizational skillsSelf-motivated and deadline drivenStrong communication and coordination abilitiesCollaborative team playerClient-focused and service-orientedAbility to prioritize multiple projects and drive them through completion BenefitsCompetitive hourly rateCompany-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance401k planLife insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysCompany laptopTuition reimbursementSupportive team environmentCareer advancement opportunities within a growing organization
