What to ExpectThe Construction EHS Specialist will play a pivotal role on the team responsible for influencing, inspiring, and empowering construction staff, stakeholders, and partner contractors across current and future Giga Texas projects. This position drives the implementation and continuous improvement of Tesla's Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) strategy to create and maintain a safe, healthy, and high-performing workplace.Working directly on-site, the Construction EHS Specialist will deliver hands-on support to Tesla's construction teams and onboarded partner contractors, ensuring Tesla's rigorous EHS standards are not only met but consistently exceeded. Reporting to the Construction Safety Manager, this role is essential in clearly setting Tesla's safety expectations to contractors and promoting a robust safety culture with our contractors.What You'll DoProvide field safety oversight of construction work activities for major infrastructure projects. Conduct project walks focused on safe work practices and conduct coaching conversations with workers when corrections are requiredBe a visible model in the field, teach, train and coach business teams and support staff on fundamental EHS&S concepts and principles to reduce risk, and influence, inspire, and empower business teams and staff to reduce risk per our Tesla EHS&S vision, values and principlesParticipate in reviews for high hazard work prior to execution to include critical lifts, confined space entries, high voltage work, pressure testing, fall protection plans, etc. Review Pre-Work Risk Assessments and Pre-Task Plans to ensure tasks, hazards and mitigations are in alignment with the work being performed in the fieldConduct proactive field activities and facility processes inspections to verify work in progress meets EHS&S goals, and document findings using internal and external software tools and applications; review improvement opportunities with EHS&S management, supervisors, operations managers, and stakeholdersPresent material and information to the Tesla construction management team and contractors during safety meetings. Be a resource to the construction project management team and provide guidance, assistance and direction regarding EHS requirementsPerform frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and have the skills, knowledge and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.
