Outside Sales Representative

Job Title: Outside Sales RepJob Type: Full-timeThe Dealer Sales Rep is an outside sales role responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing customer relationships. This role owns both dealer and buyer relationships with key customers within the Greater Houston distribution market. The position operates independently while collaborating with a local sales team to deliver value, drive sales growth, and improve margins.This role focuses on expanding customer base and market coverage while promoting a full range of products, including engineered wood, commodities, and specialty building materials. The goal is to deliver superior value to customers and support demand generation efforts.Key Functions:Build, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with key dealer and buyer accounts, including large and complex customersDevelop strategies to grow wallet share, profitability, and overall customer valueIdentify opportunities with new and existing customers using market knowledge and relationshipsGather and analyze market intelligence to influence product mix, pricing, inventory, and demand planningExecute marketing and communication plans, including promotions, product updates, and pricing strategiesAbout the Organization:Offers over 48,000 SKUs from 300+ suppliers, providing structural framing materials and specialty building products for residential, multi-family, and light commercial markets. The organization delivers end-to-end building solutions—from design to installation—supported by a strong sales and distribution network.Qualifications:Proven success managing large, complex accounts and building executive-level relationshipsExperience developing programs, promotions, and negotiating solutions to improve profitabilityStrong organizational skills with high attention to detailExcellent communication skills (authentic, adaptive, and persuasive)Ability to analyze customer needs and develop tailored solutionsCollaborative mindset with cross-functional teamsExperience in building materials; strong knowledge of products and competitive landscapeUnderstanding of financial drivers in retail, wholesale, and construction industriesMinimum HS Diploma/GEDMust reside in the Greater Houston area5+ years in building materials; 3+ years in wood/lumber distribution outside sales
