Data Architect – SQL Server Migration & ModernizationPrimarily Remote – Candidates must live within 75 miles of Hershey, PAFull-TimeTop Required SkillsSQL Server Architecture | SQL Server Migration | Database Modernization | SSRS | Linked Servers | Performance Tuning | Data Integration | SQL Security | Production CutoverAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Data Architect to support the assessment, planning, architecture, migration, validation, and stabilization of a large SQL Server environment.This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience migrating and modernizing SQL Server databases and understanding the applications, reporting systems, integrations, and infrastructure that depend on them.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign target-state SQL Server architecture and migration strategies.Lead hands-on database migration and modernization activities.Migrate and validate SSRS reporting environments.Configure and migrate Linked Servers and database connectivity.Analyze application/database dependencies, including IIS-hosted applications.Support SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.Address authentication, security, backup, recovery, and rollback requirements.Support production cutover, validation, troubleshooting, and post-migration stabilization.Identify technical debt and recommend improvements for database organization, standards, and maintainability.Develop technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer.Support data integration architecture and migration planning.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience with SQL Server architecture, administration, upgrades, and migration.Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server database migration and modernization.Experience with SSRS migration and validation.Hands-on experience with Linked Server configuration and migration.Strong understanding of application/database connectivity and dependency analysis.Experience with performance tuning and optimization.Knowledge of data integration architecture.Experience with Windows and SQL authentication/security configuration.Strong understanding of backup, recovery, rollback, and migration validation.Experience supporting production cutovers and post-migration troubleshooting.Strong technical documentation and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with SQL Server 2025 migration.Experience supporting IIS-hosted and custom .NET applications.Oracle and interface-engine integration experience.Master Data Management (MDM) experience.Data governance experience.Experience in healthcare, education, government, or other regulated environments.Experience modernizing legacy SQL Server environments.
