BALD KNOB SCHOOL DISTRICTPOSITION GUIDE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIESPosition Title: Special Education Classroom Teacher: Self-ContainedContract: 190 DaysSalary: Certified Salary SchedulePrimary Function: To serve as a teacher in the assigned area and comply with all District policies related to teaching assignment. Assignment can be changed based on District need and license of employee.Illustration of responsibilities and key job duties:Demonstrate knowledge of content and appropriate pedagogy applicable to assignmentDisplays an understanding of the specific needs of all students assigned and plans instruction to those specific needs of the studentsCreates instructional plans that are indicative of appropriate instructional outcomes for assigned studentsPreparation reveals that multiple resources are considered and incorporated into the preparation for teachingInstructional plans are coherent and include varied activities, possible grouping, and are sequenced to compliment unit planningUtilizes appropriate assessments that are aligned with outcomesCreates a classroom environment of mutual respect and rapport with studentsEstablishes a culture of high expectations and individual accountability for all studentsManages classroom effectively which compliments efficient use of instructional timeEffective use protocols, rules, and procedures are evident in the management of the classroomOrganizes the physical space of the classroom to complement multiple venues of instructionClassroom procedures are established to ensure effective communication with students regarding all aspects of instructionEmploys effective questioning and discussion techniques in daily instructionEffectively engages all students in learningAssessments are designed by the teacher and complement instructionDemonstrates flexibility in instructional delivery and is responsive to specific student needs to ensure successEngages in self-analysis of his/her teaching and makes adjustments to improve instructionMaintains accurate records as required by building administratorCommunication with families is purposefully planned and proactive and results in gaining parental supportParticipates in professional organizations and learning opportunities to improve instructional skillsConstant in improving instruction and student achievementDisplays professionalism in his/her conduct, service to students, advocacy, decision-making, and compliance with school/district policies and proceduresSpecial Education:Maintains student due process folder as specified by district protocolMonitors student academic and behavior progress/ grades in all academic settingsCollaborates with other district personnel to ensure that students' IEP modifications/ accommodations and/or behavior plans are implementedSpecial Assignments: The classroom teacher may be assigned other duties relevant to his/her teaching assignment not specifically listed in this position guide.Organizational Relationships: The classroom teacher will be expected to respond to reasonable requests by building level leadership and the District's LEA that is not in conflict with District policy or law.Position Holder Qualifications: The classroom teacher will hold a valid Arkansas teaching license for the said teaching assignment or be compliant with Arkansas law/regulation that allows for completing required license. Not meeting Arkansas licensing requirements will result in termination or nonrenewal to protect the school/district accreditation.
