Cross Domain Engineer - Data Transfer / AWS Diode (Low-to-High Pipelines)Location: Chantilly, VA (preferred)Work Type: Onsite / HybridCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship requiredClearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance requiredThe OpportunityStrategic Business Systems (SBS) is expanding our team to support a high-priority, mission-critical national security program. We are building out secure data movement capabilities across classification boundaries and are looking for engineers who understand how to design and implement low-to-high data transfer solutions in controlled environments.This role is focused on developing and supporting Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), including AWS data diode architectures, to enable secure, compliant movement of data between networks of differing classification levels. You'll play a key role in enabling mission systems-both on-prem and in AWS classified environments-to share data safely while maintaining strict security controls.What You'll Be DoingDesign and implement low-to-high data pipelines across classification boundariesSupport and integrate Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), including data diodes and guard technologiesBuild secure data ingestion, validation, and transfer mechanisms into AWS environments and on-prem systemsDevelop and enforce data filtering, formatting, and content inspection rulesIntegrate CDS pipelines with AWS services, HPC systems, and enterprise applicationsSupport deployment of pipelines into AWS classified regions (e.g., GovCloud or other secure environments)Implement logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities for cross-domain transfersSupport testing, accreditation, and operational deployment of CDS capabilitiesWhat We're Looking ForCross Domain / CDS ExperienceHands-on experience with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) or similar secure data transfer systemsFamiliarity with data diode architectures and one-way transfer mechanismsUnderstanding of low-to-high data flow constraints and approval processesAWS / Cloud IntegrationExperience integrating systems with AWS services (S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.)Understanding of secure data ingestion patterns into AWSFamiliarity with VPC design, private endpoints, and restricted network architecturesExperience working in or supporting AWS GovCloud or classified regions (preferred)Data & IntegrationExperience building data pipelines and transformation workflowsUnderstanding of data formats (JSON, XML, CSV, etc.) and validation techniquesAbility to integrate across cloud and on-prem environmentsSecurity & ComplianceStrong understanding of classified or regulated environmentsFamiliarity with NCDSMO, Raise-the-Bar (RTB), or CDS accreditation processesExperience implementing data inspection, sanitization, and filtering controlsSystems & Infrastructure* Linux background with scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)* Understanding of networking fundamentals and secure data transfer protocolsNice to HaveExperience with Radiant Mercury, Owl Cyber Defense, Everfox, or similar CDS toolsFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) in secure environmentsExperience supporting ATO or compliance-driven deploymentsWhy SBSSBS supports mission-critical programs where secure data movement is essential.
