Fabrication Manager
Job DescriptionJob Summary:We are looking for a high-energy, hands-on Fabrication Manager to oversee and coordinate all sheet metal, structural steel, and copper fabrication operations. You'll drive operational excellence by ensuring high-quality products are manufactured safely, on time, and within budget - all while leading a team of 30-60 employees and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. This role again requires a high-energy, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual with a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to world-class manufacturing standards.ResponsibilitiesChampion a Safety First culture at all timesAnalyze work orders, BOMs, blueprints, and schedules to determine materials and sequencingCoordinate fabrication activities, oversee machinery setup and maintenance, and monitor production metrics and labor hoursLead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiencyRecommend enhancements to equipment, plant layout, material flow, and capital investmentsLead, train, mentor, and evaluate 30-60 employees including supervisors across fabrication and machine shop operationsManage compensation recommendations and employee relationsDevelop and manage departmental budgets including labor, materials, and CapExSupport cost estimation for custom fabrication projects and drive year-over-year cost efficienciesCollaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, Production, and Quality teamsEnsure compliance with AWS, AISC, and ASTM/ISO standards for welding, steel construction, and coating specifications.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred - equivalent experience considered3-5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or metal fabricationHands-on knowledge of sheet metal, structural steel, and copper fabrication processesAbility to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specificationsExperience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Epicor, or similar)Familiarity with AWS, AISC, ASTM, or ISO standardsStrong communication skills; comfortable presenting to employees, management, and customersComfortable working with production data, metrics, and basic calculations.Practical problem-solver who can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly in a standard manufacturing environment.
