Fairgrounds Caretaker
Maintenance Worker To be successful the applicant should have basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, lawn maintenance and custodial duties. This position performs basic maintenance and custodial duties to assure safety, neatness and cleanliness of the Malheur County Fairgrounds. They would perform repairs, adjustments and maintenance of building systems, equipment and grounds to ensure they are safe and in good working order. Must be flexible to accommodate the needs of the facility. This position will work under the Malheur County Fair Manager who assigns work orally and in writing. The employee takes initiative in completing routine maintenance and custodial duties and refers to the Malheur County Fair Manager when issues arise out of the ordinary. The employee may have responsibility for continued work progress on a project by project basis, which may be checked in progress and upon completion. Essential Functions Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Malheur County Fairgrounds as needed. This may include replacing and/or repairing broken boards throughout the Fairgrounds. Painting where necessary to keep buildings looking good. Complete minor plumbing repairs and maintenance throughout the Fairgrounds. Including sprinkler systems, showers, toilets and sinks. This may require unplugging, repairing or replacing items. Responsible for keeping ALL plumbing in good repair and working order throughout the facility. Maintain and make minor electrical repairs. Replace lighting fixtures or bulbs. Responsible for keeping the Malheur County Fair's 'Maintenance Shop' clean and organized. Maintain, repair and keep in good working order all tools and equipment used to complete duties. Performs ALL physical maintenance at the Malheur County Fairgrounds. Which includes but is not limited to mowing, sweeping and snow removal. Performs special assignments and miscellaneous duties as instructed. Informs the Malheur County Fair Manager of issues that may affect the safe and orderly operation of the Malheur County Fairgrounds. Secure the facility at the end of the day. Monitor and dump garbage cans throughout the Fairgrounds as needed. Clean and stock restrooms as needed throughout the entire facility. Regular physical attendance at the employer's facility is required. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent with three years experience in similarly responsible position; must pass a background check. All work is performed within departmental policy and procedure; Federal, State and County rules, regulations and ordinances and personnel policies. Employee uses good judgment, initiative and experience to interpret and choose between alternate guidelines, however the Malheur County Fair Manager is available for interpretation in unusual situations. Work is performed in the Malheur County Fairgrounds, it requires physical activity which includes moving equipment and supplies, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, pushing, reaching, standing, walking and lifting up to 50 + pounds.
