Facilities & Utilities Engineer
Sabinsa Corporation is seeking a hands-on Facilities Engineer to support and optimize critical facility infrastructure at our Payson, Utah manufacturing site.
This role is responsible for the performance, reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of facility systems including HVAC, boilers, compressed air, purified water, building infrastructure, and other critical utilities that support cGMP manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate is a practical engineer with strong troubleshooting ability, experience managing plant utilities, and a proactive mindset toward reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Utilities & Infrastructure
Provide engineering ownership and technical support for facility utility systems, including:
o HVAC and environmental control systems
o Boilers and steam systems
o Compressed air systems
o Purified water / water treatment systems
o Building mechanical infrastructure
o Process support utilities
o Backup power / emergency systems (if applicable)
Monitor system performance and reliability to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Troubleshoot equipment failures, utility interruptions, and infrastructure issues with urgency and sound engineering judgment.
Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and preventive actions to minimize downtime.

Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Develop and drive facility reliability initiatives for critical plant infrastructure.
Conduct root cause investigations for recurring failures and utility disruptions.
Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies with maintenance teams.
Identify energy efficiency, capacity, and cost optimization opportunities.

Compliance & cGMP Support
Ensure facility systems operate in compliance with applicable:
o cGMP requirements
o FDA expectations
o OSHA safety requirements
o environmental regulations
o internal quality standards
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness activities.
Assist with change control, deviation investigations, CAPA activities, and facility documentation.
Help maintain engineering standards for critical utility systems.

Projects & Capital Improvements
Support facility expansion, infrastructure upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
Work with contractors, vendors, consultants, and service providers on installation and commissioning activities.
Review engineering proposals, drawings, specifications, and contractor work.
Support commissioning, qualification, and startup of new facility systems where required.

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
5+ years of facilities engineering or plant utilities engineering experience
Strong experience with one or more:
o HVAC
o boilers / steam systems
o compressed air
o water purification / water treatment
o industrial utilities
o building mechanical systems
Experience troubleshooting mechanical and facility infrastructure systems.
Experience working in regulated manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, food, pharma, nutraceutical, chemical, or related environments.
Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience in cGMP manufacturing.
Familiarity with BMS, automation, controls, or facility monitoring systems.
Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and facility compliance expectations.
Experience with contractor/vendor management.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance / CMMS systems.
Experience supporting audits and engineering documentation.
