The Safety Specialist is responsible for the daily execution of the company's safety and training programs, ensuring a safe work environment and full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies. This role provides hands-on safety leadership through workplace inspections, hazard identification, incident response, and training coordination. Location/Schedule: Macon & Byron, GA / 1st & 2nd shift availableRequirementsWhat You'll Do: Serve as the on-site safety contact and resource for employees and supervisorsMonitor work areas to ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulationsEnforce PPE standards and provide coaching on proper selection, fit, and useIdentify unsafe acts and conditions and ensure timely corrective actionStop work when imminent danger or serious hazards are presentEscalate significant safety concerns and trends to the Corporate Safety DirectorSupport contractor safety programs and verify adherence to company expectationsProvide real-time guidance and direction on safety questions and concernsConduct routine safety inspections, behavioral observations, and risk assessmentsDocument findings and track corrective actions through completionMonitor housekeeping standards and address deficiencies promptlyPerform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews and assist with updates as neededPrepare inspection reports, safety metrics, and shift summaries for leadershipSupport internal and external safety audits as directedMaintain a safe and clean working environmentComply with all quality policies and specificationsSupport continuous improvement initiativesAssist other departments as neededAssist and train laborers as assignedWillingness to perform other manufacturing tasks as directedOther duties as assigned by ManagementWho You Are: Qualifications & RequirementsStrong knowledge of workplace safety programs, hazard identification, incident investigations, and OSHA complianceAbility to interpret safety regulations and conduct inspections, training, and presentationsExcellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills across all employee levelsStrong organizational, documentation, and follow-through abilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systemsDetail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or on a teamExperience & EducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree or technical certification in Safety or related field preferred2-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentExperience with safety inspections, incident investigations, employee training, and audit supportPhysical & Work EnvironmentAbility to work in a manufacturing/industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, temperature changes, and moving machineryFrequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbsMust be able to wear required PPE, including respirators and protective clothingTraining ExpectationsComplete company orientation and safety onboardingObtain OSHA 30 certification (if not already certified) within required timeframeParticipate in ongoing safety meetings, toolbox talks, and professional developmentBenefitsWhat We Offer: Excellent Compensation Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account Life & Disability Insurance Employee Assistance Program Team Meetings Employee Committees & Involvement Bonus Incentive Program Community Service Day Team Events & Activities Awesome Company Culture We kindly ask that applicants refrain from contacting the company directly regarding application status.
