3rd Shift Melt Shop Operator *Pay:* Starting at $20 per hour *Shift:* 3rd shift, starting at 8:00 p.m. *Employment Type:* Full-time, hourly, non-exempt Achilles is recruiting a 3rd Shift Melt Shop Operator for a heavy manufacturing operation. This hands-on position supports the process of turning scrap iron into production-ready molten metal. The role is well suited for someone who is comfortable operating industrial equipment, working around extreme heat, and staying alert in a demanding manufacturing environment. The Melt Shop Operator works with furnaces, overhead cranes, ladles, and alloys while coordinating with the broader manufacturing team. What You’ll Do * Repair and maintain ladles used in the melt shop * Help operate and load furnaces with scrap iron using an overhead crane * Support the heating of material to specified processing temperatures * Monitor and regulate temperature controls and heating times * Help identify, measure, and add alloys during ladle preparation * Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to help identify errors or defects * Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support production conformity * Perform other duties as required What We’re Looking For * Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts * Knowledge of industrial machines and tools, including their operation, use, and maintenance * Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify possible errors or defects * The ability to operate machinery through control mechanisms and direct physical activity * Comfort working in and around extreme heat * Basic computer skills * High school diploma or GED Work Environment and Physical Requirements This is a physically active role in a melt shop and heavy manufacturing environment. Candidates should be prepared to: * Work in and around extreme heat * Work in indoor and outdoor conditions during all seasons and across varying temperatures * Use their hands and arms to handle, position, install, and move materials * Climb, lift, balance, walk, stoop, and handle materials throughout the shift * See details at close and distant ranges, distinguish colors, and use depth perception * Lift items weighing up to 50 pounds This description is not intended to include every responsibility, qualification, or physical requirement associated with the position.
