Project Cost Analyst Onsite (Columbus / New Albany, OH) 12 Month Contract with Potential to Extend Schedule: MondayFriday Onsite role, 5 days/week required Local candidates only (Columbus or New Albany) Position Overview The Project Cost Analyst coordinates cost analysis and cost controls across multiple projects while supporting Project Managers and project teams with minimal supervision. This role supports Competitive Transmission Projects team and requires strong analytical ability, independent judgment, and attention to detail. The analyst oversees project cost reporting, performs budget monitoring and forecasting, and partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project management best practices are applied. Responsibilities include budget setup, ongoing forecasting (including accruals), variance analysis, cash flow awareness, and process improvement. Familiarity with procurement and its impact on overall cost and schedule is essential. Key Responsibilities Coordinate project meetings and support Project Managers with financial documentation and planning. Develop investment forecasts, cash flows, variance analyses, cost tracking, SOX support, and estimate-to-actual evaluations. Implement resource and cost plans, baseline budgets, work plans, and project breakdown structures aligned with project schedules. Maintain accurate project records, oversee unvouchered liabilities, and manage the full work order lifecyclefrom creation through closeout. Support procurement activities including contracting methods, requisitions, bidding, cost reviews, and ongoing tracking. Present and communicate budget and cost information to project stakeholders. Work independently to resolve moderately complex technical and analytical issues. Develop and track measurable KPIs to evaluate forecast accuracy. Support and enforce Client project/work management standards and governance. Recommend process improvements that enhance project and organizational performance. Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to gather and integrate performance and cost data. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree + 6 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree + 8 years of relevant experience Related fields may include Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Technology, or Project Management. Experience should include: Utility operations or project management Project cost tracking and forecasting (including accruals) Budgeting and financial analysis Understanding of accounting principles Construction or engineering project support Additional Requirements Strong time management, organization, accuracy, and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills Effective team collaboration Understanding of Client policies and project governance Experience with cost management systems (e.g., EcoSys) Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across multiple organizational levels EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
