BARROW BRAIN AND SPINE JOB DESCRIPTION Radiologic Technologist JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist REPORTS TO: Practice Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Job duties include elements of job duties and responsibilities as delineated in the Radiology Technologist job description. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged sitting, standing, some bending, stooping and stretching and/or walking. Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Assist with the lift/transfer of patients in excess of 200 pounds including the ability to push a wheelchair or stretcher. Normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. High pressure at times while performing multiple tasks, and supporting anxious patients and families. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical and procedural setting with contact with patients, patient families, office staff, physicians, etc. while utilizing Universal Precautions. Moderate noise. Possible fumes, odors. Exposure to radiation. Exposure to blood/body fluid/tissue. Overtime as required. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet and accompany patients to dressing and exam rooms. Set up and maintain patient dressing and procedure rooms. Perform high quality radiographic procedures, under supervision of radiologist. Maintain procedure rooms, including ordering and stocking supplies. Ensure rapid, efficient turnover of procedure rooms. Maintain film badges. Ensure radiation safety procedures are being followed according to ALARA principles. Lead shielding of patients whenever possible. Manual collimation for all views when possible. Wear protective lead apparel and dosimetry devices during Fluoro procedures. Immediately advise the supervisor if you are or think you may be pregnant. Complete all necessary administrative duties associated with patient exams in Centricity EMR, PACS. Ensure that preventive maintenance is being done on equipment. Maintain appropriate equipment documentation. Follow state regulations for X-ray logs. Play a lead role in ensuring patient satisfaction and in following HIPPA guidelines. Maintain patient, physician, and staff privacy and confidentiality per the BBS Compliance Program. Maintain designated certifications (ARRT (R), Arizona State MRTBE). Other duties and assignments as necessary. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Follows established guidelines for scheduled and unscheduled time off. Maintain positive attitude and demonstrate the utmost in professionalism at all times. Adheres to the facility dress code guidelines. Accept delegation, instruction and supervision from the physician, nurse practitioner, Radiology technologist or RN authorized to delegate tasks. Ability to work independently, without direct supervision. Utilize time effectively. Complete work accurately and in a timely manner. Excellent oral, written & telephone communication, along with tact, diplomacy, and a strong customer service orientation. Prioritize work activities and accepts multiple job duties. Maintain effective communication and working relationships with patients, physicians, administration and other staff members. Able to work within a team Supported environment. Demonstrate knowledge of the philosophy, policies and objectives of BBS. Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence of the skills necessary for the position. Demonstrate understanding of established emergency procedures for BBS. Demonstrate safe operation of equipment. Attend and participate in all applicable training and development workshops offered within BBS. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Successful completion and graduation from an accredited radiology technologist professional program. ARRT (RT) and MRTBE Licensure. 1 year experience in a hospital or outpatient setting. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained before employment or within 30 days of employment.
