Position SummaryThe Appian Developer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicaid and CHIP (MAC) Suite legacy systems, including MACPro System (Appian BPM), leveraging Appian low-code platform. MACPro is used to submit and track state plan amendments, waivers and other types of Submissions related to Medicaid and CHIP, ensuring that the programs comply with federal guidelines and regulations. It allows state agencies to manage their submissions, approvals, and communications with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This role involves technical leadership, mentoring developers, and ensuring best practices in architecture, integration, and performance optimization. The Appian Developer will collaborate with business stakeholders and global teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions while driving innovation and quality. Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with CMS Business Stakeholders to gather and document product requirements Provide insights for the Business to make informed decisions. Define and prioritize EPICs and Features to guide the development team effectively. Designs multi-application solutions. Coordinates extensive projects with all relevant personnel and management. May be a subject matter expert for specific areas, applications or technologies. Analyzes requirements for major projects involving multiple components internal and external to the division. Selects appropriate solutions. Accountable for product and tool selection. Models cross-functional and divisional business processes and enterprise data. Identifies and implements appropriate technology across the organization or directs others in these activities. Creates test strategies for cross application or solutions. May lead discussions with clients, management, co-workers, operations, technical support and vendors. Performs major software analysis. Proactively recommends solutions which take into consideration costs, business needs, and system impacts. Leads analysis and general architectural design across platforms and divisions. Demonstrates exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills across the organization and company. Takes leadership role in product and tool selection and the development of specifications for new and existing systems. May have supervisory responsibility over employees QualificationsMinimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent additional experience at a rate of twelve months required experience equivalent to nine months required education. Minimum experience: Eight years in a similar role. Strong knowledge of Appian Business Process Management (BPM), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), cloud monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch), and system integration technologies (Okta, SAML, Cognito). Experience working with Agile and SAFe methodologies. Appian Certified Associate or Senor Developer (preferred) Understanding of audit logging and secure coding standards Preferred QualificationsExperience with CMS systems or other healthcare/Medicare & Medicaid platforms. Understanding of ATO process, risk management framework, Section 508 accessibility compliance, FISMA requirements. Background in systems migration, integration, and cloud infrastructure optimization
