Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Unit

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. If you wish to make a difference to those who served for us, come join our team!The primary duties for the Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position include but are not limited to:Manage acute and chronic illness states using whole health concepts and transformative nursing modalities.Using ICARE values, providing population specific and culturally and ethnically sensitive care.Maintaining a caring and safe environment, coordinating the care across settings and among caregivers.Safely administers medications and assesses response to medications.Adapts treatments, procedures, and equipment based on population specific patient needs.Implement health promotion and prevention interventions.Assist veterans in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning through rehabilitation.With hospice care, provide supportive measures for the dying patient and significant others.Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.Maintain confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally, and written.Work and function within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment.Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement programs into his/her professional practice.Utilize nursing research and literature in daily practice.Work Schedule: Rotating day/night shifts, to include rotating weekends and holidays.Telework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
