Occupational Therapist (OT) - School Setting

The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) supports students in developing the skills necessary for academic success and participation in the school environment. This role focuses on improving fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional skills to help students access their educational program.Duties/ Responsibilities:Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' functional needsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans and goalsCollaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior teams, and related service providersParticipate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reportingProvide consultation and training to school staff on strategies to support student successMaintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs and progress reportsSupport students with sensory regulation, fine motor skills, handwriting, and daily living skillsAdapt classroom materials and environments to meet student needsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and district guidelinesRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to move, lift, and position students as neededAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periodsFine motor skills for documentation and therapy activitiesExperience with sensory integration techniquesFamiliarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipmentAbility to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks effectivelyEducation/Experience & Other RequirementsCurrent state licensure as an Occupational TherapistExperience working in a school or pediatric setting (preferred)Knowledge of special education laws, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)Strong communication and collaboration skillsWorking Environment:School-based settings (elementary, middle, or high school)May require travel between school sites within the Paramount School DistrictCollaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
