VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTLOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICTCLASSIFIED POSITION: 5-day, 6.5-hour Shared Attendant, Union Furnace Elementary (Placement with 2- 4th Grade Students)Shift Time: 8:45 AM - 3:45 PMQUALIFICATIONS: Attendants must be at least 18 years of age and must be "ESEA Highly Qualified" by either having:An associate degree is preferred, but a high school diploma/GED is acceptable.Completed at least two years of study (defined as 48 semesters or 72 quarter hours) as verified by a college transcript from an accredited institution of higher education; orObtained an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education; orMust have taken and passed the Praxis exam for Paraprofessionals as approved by the Ohio Department of Education. Special education attendants work under the overall supervision of the building principal with direct supervision provided by the intervention specialists. They are employed when required to implement special education or related services for a student and/or to provide direct assistance to a student. Their duties will vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of the student's disabilities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Attendants will:Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers.Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, counselors, occupational and physical therapists.Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.Help assist with toileting and hygiene needs of students.Provide general duties when the student is absent.Conduct other duties as assigned.Revised: 11/26/2019Adopted: 01/27/2020
