We oversee every construction phase to help ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.What You’ll Be Challenged To DoAs an Assistant Resident Engineer, you’ll support the oversight of complex infrastructure construction projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life. You’ll assist with coordinating inspection teams, working with contractors, and helping ensure compliance with standards and contract documents. Your work will contribute to the successful delivery of roads, bridges, and transit systems that support emergency access and economic growth.You’ll assist with project documentation, schedule monitoring, testing coordination, and stakeholder communication while supporting RFIs, pay estimates, and closeout activities to help keep projects moving forward.In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:Provide quality assurance support and technical guidance to inspection staffAssist with the review of monthly pay estimates submitted by contractorsPrepare and review correspondence between contractors, clients, and project stakeholdersCoordinate and oversee testing agencies and field testing activitiesAssist with maintaining accurate project records and documentationFacilitate responses to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs)Coordinate equipment and facility start-up activitiesConduct and/or assist with construction meetingsSupport coordination of inspectors and on-site personnelPrepare and review change order documentationAssist Document Control staff with contractor schedule compliance trackingPrepare progress reports and assist with Substantial and Final Completion documentationEducation | Experience:What You Will Bring To Our FirmBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer (PE) license (New York preferred) or one of the followingNICET Level IV certificationMeets ASCE Grade VMinimum of 8 years of relevant construction inspection and management including oversight of roadway/highway/bridge infrastructure projectsPrior experience with NYSDOT, NYSTA, MTA Bridges and Tunnels, or Metro-North Railroad projectsOSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire Working knowledge of Project Management Procedures (PMPs) and Project Management Guidelines (PMGs) preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with contractors, owners, subconsultants, designers, and architectsProficient in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and construction schedulesPhysically able to work in the field, including navigating uneven terrain, climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing duties in various outdoor weather conditions; Availability for occasional night and weekend workValid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various sitesCompensationThe salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 per year.
