Linguistics (Modern Languages) Adjunct Instructor
We are accepting applications for the Linguistics Instructor Adjunct Applicant Pool. Adjunct pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments.
The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part‑time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. They offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. College of the Canyons is seeking adjunct faculty members in the Department of Modern Languages to serve in this pool.

Teaching
Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor‑student interaction.
Effectively engage and facilitate authentic learning for students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
Adapt teaching pedagogy to meet the knowledge of each individual and class, and use evidence‑based assessment to respond to student learning.
Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Qualifications
Master’s in Linguistics or applied linguistics. ORBachelor’s degree in Linguistics AND a master’s degree in TESOL, anthropology, psychology, sociology, English, or any foreign language. ORequivalency: an official transcript documenting successful completion of any Master’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper‑division and graduate level, including at least 12 graduate‑level semester units.
Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes.
Adjunct salary rate: starting at $89.24 per hour.
