Laboratory Technician

About us UC Laboratory is an independent, family-owned business looking for a full-time lab technician to conduct environmental analyses on water samples collected from various locations around Minnesota and Iowa. Responsibilities Tests performed may include carbonaceous oxygen demand (CBOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and any other analyses as required by UC Lab. Employees will begin by learning one analysis fully before moving on to additional tests. Learning further analyses will be deemed as management sees necessary or by employee request, if possible. Some analytes will require that the analyst be responsible for 100+ samples per day during the busy season. Frequent, basic work with Microsoft Office Excel will be required in accomplishing day-to-day tasks within the lab. Employees are expected to work with a team and communicate well with other employees and management. Occasional work with harmful chemicals and fumes inside of a ventilation hood and with proper protective equipment. Requirements Basic reading and comprehension ability required for understanding methods and standard operating procedures. Ability to learn on-the-job at a fast pace. High school diploma or equivalent. A chemistry degree is not necessary but knowledge in science and experience in a lab setting is preferred. Ability to work with other team members covering a wide range of age and personal backgrounds. Able to comply with clean and safe laboratory practices throughout job performance.
