This role requires a leader who builds and motivates the team while prioritizing process discipline, consistency, safety, and accountability while operating within a family-owned business environment. The Production Manager ensures that production systems run reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Success in this role depends on the ability to set clear expectations, enforce standards, analyze data, and make objective decisions.Key Responsibilities/Job Duties:Oversee end-to-end production operations, ensuring consistent output, quality, and on-time deliverySupervise daily production activities to ensure adherence to established schedules, specifications, and quality standardsTrack operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions when results fall below expectationsEstablish, document, and enforce standardized operating procedures across the facilityLead and manage the production staff by setting clear performance expectationsMonitor equipment performance and work with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and unplanned disruptionsEnsure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and internal safety standards at all timesAnalyze operational data to identify root causes, trends, and opportunities for improvementControl production budgets, inventory levels, and operational costs to support profitabilityAlign daily operational decisions with long-term business objectivesWork cross-functionally with sales, maintenance, quality, and ownership to ensure operational feasibility and follow-throughMaintain professional, objective working relationships with employees, suppliers, and customersManage raw material inventory and finished goods inventory to support production plansManage production schedulingReduce waste, rework, and downtime through structured problem-solving and continuous improvement effortsWith maintenance manager, schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to protect equipment reliabilityEnsure all production practices meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsMonitor operational expenditures and prepare clear, accurate reports for company leadershipCollaborate with sales to confirm production capabilities and delivery commitmentsWork with shipping, quality, and sales to address product or delivery issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actionsLead process improvement initiatives, including equipment upgrades and workflow optimizationContribute to long-term operational planning, including capacity, sustainability, and growth initiativesDevelop, implement, and consistently enforce safety protocols throughout the facilityQualifications & Skills:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, operations management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in manufacturing operationsProven experience managing supervisors in a production settingStrong understanding of production systems, quality control, and lean manufacturing principlesDemonstrated ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutionsFinancial competency in budgeting, cost control, and operational reportingWorking knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations applicable to manufacturingProficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing-related softwareHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistencyStrong work ethic with respect for the long-term sustainability of a family-owned businessHands-on leadership style with a focus on execution and accountability
