Lead Access Control Technician
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Lead Access Control Technician to oversee and perform the installation, configuration, and commissioning of access control systems on commercial construction projects. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring all systems are installed accurately, safely, and in accordance with project specifications. The Lead Technician will coordinate with project stakeholders, guide junior technicians, and ensure all access control openings are fully functional prior to project turnover.Job ResponsibilitiesLead installation, setup, and integration of access control systems including electric strikes, magnetic locks, card readers, door position switches, and control panelsInstall and terminate low voltage cabling including CAT5e, CAT6, and multi-conductor security cableCut in and prepare door frames for hardware installation and verify proper door alignment and operationMount, wire, and organize access control panels, power supplies, and related componentsPerform system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure all devices function properlyDiagnose and resolve issues related to wiring, hardware, power, and system communicationRead and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and door schedulesCoordinate daily activities with general contractors, project managers, and other tradesTrain and mentor junior technicians on installation techniques and safety standardsConduct site walks to verify completed work and identify deficienciesMaintain organized cable management, labeling, and installation documentationFollow safety protocols including proper use of PPE and OSHA complianceMaintain daily logs and prepare for upcoming work and material needsJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredMinimum 5 years of commercial access control or security installation experienceExperience installing door hardware including electric strikes, mag locks, REX devices, and card readersExperience with access control systems such as LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, Software House, CCURE9000, Client, or cloud-based platformsStrong knowledge of low voltage cabling installation, routing, and terminationExperience mounting and wiring control panels, relays, and power suppliesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawingsTroubleshooting experience including voltage testing and continuity checksBasic networking knowledge including IP addressing and device communicationAbility to lead teams and coordinate with multiple trades on construction sitesStrong communication and organizational skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and OutlookOSHA 10 certification preferredScissor or boom lift certification preferredAbility to work on ladders, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 poundsBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k)Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 40 hours per weekWork environment: Commercial construction sitesOn-site attendance required based on project needs
