Veterinary Technician-General Practice
JOB TITLE: VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
LOCATION: TAYLOR
Job Summary
The Veterinary Technician will be responsible for the daily care of animals in the clinic, including maintenance of preventative health programs. Assisting in quality patient care is first and foremost.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during exams, procedures, and surgeries.
Prepare vaccines, stock and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms.
Create invoice for client/patient from daily visits.
Maintain accurate medical records and treatment plans.
Perform technical tasks listed here:
Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
Assist in filling medication, administering medications, vaccines, and treatments
Taking radiographs and ensuring proper positioning.
Conducting laboratory tests (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams, cytology).
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications-Surgical Experience
Prepare and maintain surgical suite, exam rooms, and treatment areas.
Sterilize instruments and ensure equipment functionality.
Induce and monitor anesthesia; manage patient pain and recovery.
Skills & Competencies
Strong animal-handling and technical medical skills.
Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
Excellent communication and client-service abilities.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
Compassion, empathy, and the ability to handle stressful situations.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 1-year work experience is required.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Ability to stand on tile 8-10 hours a day.
This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting all day.
Must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Regularly required to talk and hear.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
