Software Engineer II – Cybersecurity & Encryption (DoD Programs)

Overview In this role you will design and implement cybersecurity features, encryption technologies, and secure communications for mission-critical programs. You will work closely with software, systems, and security teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions that meet stringent government standards. You will address security risks through code reviews, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities. This position offers exposure to cryptography, secure coding, and DevSecOps in a regulated, defense-oriented environment. You will help advance secure software in support of critical national programs. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain secure software applications and services for mission-critical programsImplement cryptographic algorithms, encryption technologies, and secure communications protocolsDevelop authentication, authorization, access control, and key management capabilitiesPerform secure code reviews, vulnerability assessments, and remediationSupport security compliance by implementing technical controls aligned with standardsCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to address findings from assessments and testsParticipate in full SDLC including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, sustainmentWrite well-structured, maintainable code using modern languages and toolsSupport integration with secure computing environments and hardware security technologiesContribute to technical documentation, design reviews, and security assessmentsSupport DevSecOps, including automated security testing and secure deploymentResearch emerging cybersecurity threats and cryptographic technologies Key requirementsBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, cybersecurity, software engineering, or related technical disciplineMinimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience with focus on cybersecurity or encryptionExperience in secure or regulated environmentsExperience implementing cryptographic libraries, encryption protocols, or secure communications technologiesExperience with SDLC methodologies and secure coding practicesExperience with Linux/Unix environmentsActive security clearance or eligibility to obtainExperience in regulated industries (preferred)Strong collaboration across technical and non-technical teamsExcellent written and verbal communication for documentation and presentationsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsProgramming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, RustCryptographic libraries and secure communications technologiesGit (version control)
