It is the policy of the Company to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information.Purpose of the JobAs a Data Scientist Intern, you will help to solve real-world business problems as a member of the Data Science team including data identification and design to analytic approach and delivery.Main ResponsibilitiesKey accountabilities:Use advanced statistics, data mining, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to deliver data-driven insights for the railroad industryTransform raw data into meaningful features for model buildingDesign and implementing machine learning algorithms, including regression, classification and clustering to build predictive modelsAssess the accuracy and performance of models using appropriate metricsWork with stakeholders to understand challenges and create solutions, and identify opportunitiesProduce a range of data-driven visualizations (dashboards, reports, presentations) and provide insights relative to created data science productsProcess, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysisWork with software developers and architects to help operationalize models into productionIn conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for solutions that provide advanced, meaningful, and actionable business insightsCommunicate project progress, requirements and risks to the program managers, engineering team, stakeholders and engineering leadersCompetencies & Skills:Technical expertise with proven predictive modeling and machine learning skillsKnowledge of advanced statistical learning techniques and experience with applicationsStrong understanding of statistical concepts and hypothesis testingExperience working with complex data using advanced analytics techniques and software technologies to deliver and interpret valuable insightsExperience using Python and/or RExperience using standard libraries, such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Spark MLStrong SQL coding skills and the ability to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasetsSolid analytical approach to problem solvingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsClear and concise presentation of complex data insights to non-technical audiencesEducationMandatory:Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a highly quantitative field such as Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Operations Research, or Econometrics.EOE-Disability/Veteran
