Grocery Manager – Union Position & Bonus EligibleExemplifies strong customer service in every aspect of the job. Directs and controls the operation of the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives. Provides feedback and recommendations on operational issues and personnel decisions to Store Director and Division management.ResponsibilitiesChampions corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals, instilling a culture of excellent service in the department and throughout the store.Responsible for total store operations and directing associates throughout the store, as well as department managers, in the absence of or as needed by the Store Director.Manages the Grocery Department: plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day operations of grocery, dairy, and frozen food sections; conducts daily inspections and initiates corrective measures to ensure compliance with product quality, rotation, code-date, cleanliness, sanitation, safety, security, and pricing standards.Implements Company and Division operating and merchandising policies; controls shrink; supervises inventory counts; establishes operating procedures; and implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.Orders grocery products and maintains inventory levels per Division directives; supervises reclamation processing; maintains orderly, in-stock conditions in the back room, sales floor, and all product areas.Supervises receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of all Grocery products; handles customer and vendor relations; engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques; monitors daily logs, purchase reports, and sales versus projections.Prepares and displays appropriate product signage.Directs the work of all Grocery Department associates; schedules associates to ensure adequate coverage and service levels; participates in hiring, training, and performance management.Monitors associate performance and recommends personnel actions (hiring, firing, layoff, promotion, demotion, disciplinary action); builds and maintains associate morale; resolves complaints and reports action taken to the Store Director.Understands the store and Grocery Department profit-and-loss statement; plans promotions accordingly and communicates sales goals and opportunities to associates.Answers and responds to incoming telephone calls appropriately; receives and resolves customer complaints.Maintains confidentiality concerning associates, store sales, and Company information; maintains accurate department records.Performs all job duties with honesty and integrity and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.Attends required training and sales meetings.Provides feedback and recommendations to Store Director or District Manager and Division management teams on operational issues.QualificationsExtensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies and procedures.Strong written and oral communication skills; good leadership and interpersonal skills; proven ability to manage and develop people; ability to maintain composure with customers, vendors and coworkers; team player; ability to supervise employees; knowledge of employment laws and workplace policies; compliance with state and federal regulations.Friendly, courteous, takes initiative, maintains composure; effectively interacts with all levels of personnel, customers, vendors and the public.Analytical ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, meeting operation objectives, scheduling, supervising, hiring and disciplinary action recommendations; basic mathematics and weights and measures; knowledge of product variety, product location and perishability; ability to work weekends and holidays with little or no supervision.Thorough knowledge of check-stand scanning and loss-prevention procedures; ability to operate and train others on front-end cash registers and/or scanning equipment; ability to operate ordering equipment.Knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of a disaster or equipment/software malfunctions.Ability to stand and walk for long periods; lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 80 lb; may climb ladders.Ability to properly stack, operate fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheel carts and pallet jacks; manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination; mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.May utilize cleaning supplies and chemicals and safety cutters.Compliance with all Company policies including attendance, grooming standards and dress codes.BenefitsCompetitive wages paid weekly.Access to up to 50% of earned wages before payday via partnership with Stream.Associate discounts.Health and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401(k) and more).Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).Leaders invested in your training, career growth and development.Inclusive work environment with talented colleagues who reflect the communities we serve.J-18808-Ljbffr
