Bachelor's degree in special education or related field2. Successful experience as a special education teacher or student teacher in the assignment in question within the previous three years3. Learning Behavior Specialist I or similar certification appropriate for the grade level assigned.4. Strong instructional, organizational and interpersonal skills5. Strong knowledge of curriculum design and implementation including using appropriate instructional technologies including the use of SMART Boards, tablets, Web 2.0 applications, etc.6. Demonstrated ability for student management and instructional deliveryGeneral Responsibilities: Perform functions to instruct students on established curriculumensuring each individual is provided with the knowledge, proficiencies and experiences necessary to become successful contributing citizens in an ever-changing world.Duties:1. Collaborate with inclusive team to develop, monitor, and implement student IEPs2. Instruct students using district and Common Core-aligned curriculum.3. Develop lesson plans and goals that meet district expectations.4. Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources in accordance with the needs of each individual student.5. Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress. Administer standardized assessments as directed. Interpret student assessment data for applicationof instructional methods and monitoring of student progress.6. Consistently and in an appropriately timely manner, review student progress viaassessments, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies toensure student success and growth.7. Communicate consistently, effectively and in an appropriately timely manner withparents and students on progress using oral, written and emerging technologies.8. Meet regularly and work collaboratively with other grade level or departmentalteachers and support teachers to plan instruction across classrooms and to incorporatelessons across subjects.9. Meet regularly with support teachers, teacher assistants and specialists to discussindividual student's modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues,interventions or problems. Work collaboratively to ensure individual student's needsare met.10. Provide assignments, supervision, instructions and/or lessons to teacher assistants,student teachers and/or volunteers. Assess performance, modify assignments andprovide regular feedback.11. Actively participate on various building and district teams and committees. Providefeedback and act as liaison to other building staff in creating a cohesive PK-12 program.12. Set clear expectations for students and manage classroom and school environmentapplying positive behavior supports and interventions as needed.13. Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementingcurriculum and school and district objectives.14. Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as rolemodel by encouraging appropriate behaviors that lead to social, emotional and physicaldevelopment.15. Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students andparents. Work collaboratively with administration and colleagues to actively advocatefor North Boone's students and programs.16. Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintainprofessional growth. Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.17. Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation,open houses or conferences.18.
