Custodian - Contracted

The employer for this position will be Genesee Educational Consultant Services. Starting pay is $15.38/hour, increases to $16.40/hour after 90 days, $16.91 at one year. Court Street, Flint, MI 48532.Custodian (2nd Shift)Job Purpose And FocusTo provide staff and students a safe, attractive, clean and efficient place to learn and develop and insure that building equipment and grounds are properly maintained. The employee shall devote his/her entire time to the care of the school property within the assigned. The employee shall take every precaution for the protection of the property. The employee shall serve as an advisor to the Supervisor of Operations on matters pertaining and limited to, safety, maintenance of the districts buildings, grounds and equipment. Job tasks may differ depending on the season.Essential Qualifications And RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentExcellent personal hygieneExcellent attendance recordBasic attributes for all custodial positions: self-motivated, dependable, a positive attitude towards people and pride in the cleanliness and overall operation of the building assigned.Knowledge of the operation of cleaning equipment and use of cleaning supplies.Knowledge of the proper operation of powered and non-powered grounds equipment and basic grounds equipment maintenance skillsAbility to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written formKnowledge of and adherence to all district requirements and Board of Education policiesAbility to meet deadlines Essential Functions And Representative DutiesWork with standard custodial chemicals and finishes for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfectingPerform scheduled full cleaning assignmentsDust mop floors and dust roomsClean sinks, urinals and stoolsWash classroom windows and doorsReplenish and cleans soap and paper dispensersWash chalkboards, desks, chairs, walls, tables, and other room surfaces and furnishingsClean and wash lockersVacuum areas as needed with various vacuum cleaners, including a backpack vacuumPerform all other light housekeeping choresMaintain floors including floor finishing and floor machine operationRemove trash and re-lines receptaclesChange light bulbsAssist in summer building clean up as directed by the Supervisor of OperationsPerform other duties as assigned
