Safety in and around water is essential for all of our children, but a disproportionate number of minority children drown each year. At the Y, we believe that safe swimming saves lives and that all children should be equipped with the skills to help them safely enjoy the water. Our Safety Around Water program is one of the many ways we help make time in and around the water fun and safe.
YMCA lifeguard mobile teams travel to different locations around the Dallas area to teach basic water safety and assess a child's ability to swim. We also partner with schools and other non-profits to provide free swim lessons to children who might otherwise not have access to learn life-saving water safety skills.
