Recovery Support Specialist- FCC 3424R (Minooka, IL) (Morris, IL) Position: Recovery Support Specialist (RSS)- Family Counseling Center (FCC) Location: Grundy County Shift: Weekday, 2 evening nights per week Salary: $36,000-$47,000 POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the direction and supervision of the program director, the Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) plays a key role providing support, promoting recovery, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff to help clients develop an appropriate action plan. RSS must have lived experience as a consumer of mental health, substance abuse services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides support to individuals experiencing mental health crisis Facilitates development of an appropriate plan of action that will ensure the safety and comfort of those in crisis. Utilizes and teaches techniques for problem solving, identifying and combating negative self-talk, identifying and overcoming fears in both one-on-one and group settings Promotes participants’ use of self-directed recovery tools Assists individuals in identifying strengths, recovery and wellness goals, and barriers; and determining recovery and wellness interventions based on his or her life goals Role model for effective coping techniques, self-help strategies, and self-care Recognizes and reports progress participants make toward meeting objectives Supports individuals in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or Peer- to-Peer plan Ability to recognize and take appropriate action with high-risk indicators Supports individuals in developing empowerment skill through self-advocacy to combat stigma Conducts outreach and follow up with individuals Maintains service documentation SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability and knowledge of basic computer programs for service documentation Strong communication skills Teaching skills, non-judgmental personality, and empathic listening skills QUALIFICATIONS: Lived experience as a consumer of mental health, substance abuse services GED or higher education Experience either as a consumer of or facilitator of groups WRAP Certification or desire to pursue WRAP Certificate Current CRSS or desire to pursue CRSS state certification Contact: Qualified candidates email your resume to Justina Nava at jobs@trinityservices.org
