Position Type:Administration/Director Date Posted:3/13/2026 Location:Weld Re-8 Administration Date Available:07/01/2026 Closing Date:open until filled Director of Business and FinanceLocation: School District Administration Reports To: Chief Operations Officer (COO) FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: $76,000 - $135,000 Work Year: 2026 2027 Position Summary The Director of Business and Finance oversees the financial operations of the school district and ensures effective management of budgeting, accounting systems, grants, financial reporting, and fiscal compliance. This position plays a key leadership role in strategic financial planning, forecasting, and reporting to support the district's educational mission. The Director works closely with district leadership, school administrators, and external agencies to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective stewardship of district resources in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role collaborates with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Operations, and school leadership to coordinate and manage districtwide budgets. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Budget Management Lead development, monitoring, and oversight of the district budget Monitor enrollment and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) allocations for monthly Board of Education reports Administer, monitor, and coordinate district financial resources Prepare and present financial reports for district leadership and governing bodies Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and policies Accounting & Financial Reporting Oversee financial reporting requirements at the local, state, and federal levels Coordinate and prepare annual audit documentation and financial reporting Manage purchasing processes, accounts receivable, and accounts payable Monitor financial systems and ensure accuracy and internal controls Grant & Program Financial Management Administer federal grants and consolidated grant programs Track and manage grant budgets and compliance requirements Oversee Universal Preschool financial tracking, reporting, and tuition management Manage E-Rate financial processes and compliance Operational Budget Oversight Oversee financial operations related to: Transportation department budgeting Food services budgeting District insurance programs Capital projects and infrastructure investments Maintenance and operational budgets Athletics operations and facility preparation for competitions Oversee athletic budgets and registration processes Strategic Collaboration Work with district leadership, school administrators, and operations teams to align financial resources with strategic priorities Participate in internal and external committees, including the Finance Committee Support financial planning related to district initiatives and programs Other Duties Perform additional duties as assigned to support district financial operations Minimum Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA strongly preferred ExperienceExperience in governmental or school district finance preferred Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets and financial systems Technical Skills Experience with Tyler Technologies ERP Pro - Infinite VisionsStrong financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting skills Knowledge of federal and state grant management Proficiency with financial software systems and reporting tools Strong collaboration and leadership skills Licenses and Certifications Valid Colorado Driver's License required Supervisory Responsibilities Provides leadership and oversight to finance-related staff and operations as assigned. Work Environment This position primarily operates in a professional office environment within a school district administrative setting. The role may involve collaboration with multiple departments and occasional attendance at district meetings, including Board of Education presentations.
