Together.SummaryThe Manager - Information Mobility, in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, is responsible for the development, implementation and management of national policies, procedures and systems as they relate to the mobility of information (regardless of media, format or location) into or out of any of DLA Piper’s North American offices. The Manager maintains best practice guidance and functions as a subject matter expertise on information mobility procedures to the firm’s legal teams, administrative departments and onsite records & information management (RIM) support staff. Monitors and reports on activities in identified offices related to the firm’s information mobility to ensure the defensible transfer/intake of information. Manages the relationship with onsite vendor team leadership to ensure the verification of onsite RIM staff’s ability to comply with the firm’s information mobility procedures and policies.  Location This position is located in our Dallas office and offers a hybrid work schedule.  Responsibilities  Develops, implements and monitors the compliance of Information Governance (IG) policies and procedures related to the on-boarding and off-boarding of all information (regardless of media, format or location). Works with firm departments to ensure access to and use of appropriate and trustworthy data to support the implementation of the firm’s published policies and procedures. Works with management (e.g., the Office of General Counsel, the firm’s Risk Committee) to ensure information mobility procedures do not negatively impact requirements associated with litigation holds, outside Counsel guidelines or other factors. Assists and supports the maintenance of the firm’s records management database. Understands the technologies and methodologies associated with retaining information across various repositories and administrative systems and their impact on the Program’s information mobility procedures. Assists with the training and development of DLA staff related to all IG policies and procedures. Maintains regular communication with senior leadership, technical teams, office managers/ administrators and other staff engaged with/impacted by the national IG Program and its operations. Assists with the negotiation of contracts, communication with vendors and management of the budget process as it relates to the implementation of the information mobility procedures. Demonstrates a solid understanding of IG/RIM policies and best practice procedures within the legal environment. Works with onsite teams (vendor & DLA) and the IG Regional Managers to decrease the firm’s reliance on its physical collection through continuation of the “Image/Destroy Initiative”. Other duties as assigned.Desired Skills  Thorough understanding of law firm environment and operations. Strong knowledge of information governance principles and practices, and familiarity with law firm processes that interface with information governance. Must have solid leadership skills, including ability to work productively with lawyers and staff at all levels and in all offices. Excellent communication skills as well as proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Sound judgement and the ability to make good business decisions under pressure. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask. Ability to travel to offices within the supported geography. Minimum Education   Bachelor’s Degree in Records Management/Information Governance or related field.Minimum Years Of Experience  6 years of management experience in a comparable law firm or large professional services firm is required. Must have a working knowledge of and experience with records management databases, as well as policies and practices specific to the legal environment.
