Accounting ManagerOur client located in Houston, TX needs an Accounting Manager. This is a direct hire, hybrid opportunity.Company Profile:Legal Firm with multiple locations.Accounting Manager Role:Responsible for managing and integrating core accounting functions, including general ledger, billing, and accounts payableEnsures accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with law firm accounting standards and internal controlsReports directly to the Controller and serves as a key leader within the accounting functionOversees month end and year end close processes, audit support, and financial reporting activitiesProvides hands on oversight of accounting operations within a legal or professional services environmentRequires strong technical accounting expertise and advanced system knowledge, preferably AderantLeads process improvement initiatives across accounting, billing, and AP functionsGeneral Ledger and Financial CloseManage general ledger activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysisOversee month end and year end close processesEnsure accuracy and completeness of financial recordsSupport audits, financial reviews, and reporting requestsBilling and Revenue OperationsOversee full billing cycle including monthly billing, write offs, adjustments, and cancellationsResolve complex billing, timekeeping, and origination issuesPartner with attorneys and leadership on billing questions and complianceAccounts Payable and DisbursementsManage vendor payments, reimbursements, and expense processingEnsure proper coding and adherence to approval controlsOversee client disbursements and vendor complianceSystems and Process ImprovementMaintain advanced knowledge of legal accounting systems, preferably AderantSupport system enhancements and reporting improvementsImprove workflows, controls, and accounting processes across departmentsLeadership and SupervisionSupervise accounting, billing, and accounts payable staffOversee workload distribution and performance managementTrain and develop team members and establish best practicesEnsure coverage during peak periods and staff absencesAccounting Manager Background Profile:10+ years of progressive accounting experience7+ years of management or supervisory experienceStrong experience in law firm or professional services accounting environmentBachelor's degree in Accounting requiredActive CPA license strongly preferredTechnical SkillsDeep knowledge of law firm accounting, billing, and AP processesAdvanced proficiency in Aderant or comparable legal accounting systemsStrong Excel skills including reconciliations and financial analysisAbility to manage complex accounting and billing issuesLeadership and CommunicationProven ability to lead and develop accounting teamsExperience managing accounting, billing, and AP personnelStrong communication skills with attorneys and senior leadershipBenefits and Features:401(k) with 5% company matchPaid parking or transit subsidy3 weeks vacation plus10 holidaysPaid parental leave100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision and HSA contributionsLife and accidental death & dismemberment coverageShort-term and long-term disability fully coveredIdentity protection and critical/accidental coverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Concierge health advocate service
