Description POSITION: Café Manager CLASSIFICATION: Exempt REPORTS TO: Regional Manager At Verve Coffee Roasters, we believe the coffee experience is our responsibility from seed to cup. Key Responsibilities Welcome and connect with every customer every time by being a brand ambassador with positivity and enthusiasm Hire, train, and schedule cafe staff Schedule quarterly meetings with store shift leads and all staff separately. Attend and participate in weekly manager meetings and monthly cuppings. Schedule weekly 1:1's with ASM and attend weekly 1:1's with Regional manager. Communicate new product launch information and company initiatives/changes to all staff in a timely manner. Manage company changes effectively and ensure all team members are aligned with company goals. Create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for customers Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure efficiency Monitor and analyze sales and financial reports Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed Oversee food and beverage quality control Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive traffic and increase sales Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by maintaining a clean environment including the cleaning of the back of house, bar areas, and patios Contribute to store profitability by following Verve’s cash handling and cash register protocols Work at different stations in the café as needed Follow all Verve policies, procedures, and processes Have a passion for coffee! Physical Requirements The following physical demands outline the requirements necessary for employees to effectively carry out the essential functions of this position. During the performance of duties, employees are expected to engage in regular communication, auditory perception, and reading tasks. This role is dynamic and involves prolonged periods of standing (or being on one's feet for up to 8 hours), walking, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. Additionally, employees will be required to lift products and packaging overhead and may frequently handle items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds. Essential vision capabilities for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Furthermore, adept finger and wrist dexterity are essential for successful performance in this position. Qualifications and Requirements 3+ years of experience in a managerial role within the food and beverage industry. Specialty coffee a plus Experience managing a profitable café/ restaurant preferred Must maintain current CA issued SERVSafe Manager Certificate Experience recruiting, hiring, and managing staff Inclusive, respectful and professional with strong leadership skills and professional maturity Proven ability to understand and execute on an organization’s goals and objectives Able to multi-task and deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Ability to communicate effectively with others, written and verbally Leadership, relationship, team building, and conflict management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written Must be able to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Experience reviewing financial reports and meeting budgets Ability to lead change, deal with the ambiguity, and the prioritizing needed to run a fast-paced environment Experience with POS touch screen, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other computer skills Able to work full time, including variable hours such as early morning, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, which can fluctuate due to the needs of the business.
