Design Project Engineer – SolidWorks / Custom Equipment
About Thermach
Thermach LLC is a leading manufacturer of thermal spray equipment, turnkey coating systems, and consumable components. We partner with customers across aerospace, power generation, metals processing, automotive, and repair/remanufacturing industries. Our products enable high-performance coatings that protect mission-critical parts operating in extreme environments.
Thermach LLC designs and manufactures advanced thermal spray equipment and turnkey coating systems used around the world. We are a growing, innovative engineering and manufacturing company that offers the flexibility and impact of a small team with the technical challenges of a high-performance industrial environment.
We’re looking for a Design Project Engineer who can combine strong SolidWorks design skills with customer applications support, guiding projects from first concept through successful startup. This role is ideal for someone who wants to see their engineering work become real systems used on customer floors—not just sit in a CAD model.
About the Role
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and design of custom and standard thermal spray system components, developing customer applications, and supporting projects from quotation through installation and startup. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, service technicians, and customers to ensure systems are designed correctly, built efficiently, and perform as expected.
This is not a pure project management role—this is a design + applications + system integration engineering role with ownership of customer applications and real-world equipment performance.

Provide advanced troubleshooting support alongside Thermach Service Technicians
Project Coordination

Hands-on mechanical aptitude and interest in seeing equipment through build and startup
Experience designing custom machinery, automation equipment, or industrial systems preferred
Knowledge of PLCs/robots (Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, etc.) is a plus
Ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers
Comfortable working on multiple engineering projects in a fast-paced environment
