The school fosters a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and innovation to develop well-rounded students prepared for leadership roles in a dynamic and interconnected world.GENERAL JOB SUMMARYWestlake Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to join its pool of K-5 PYP teachers. Candidates in this pool will be considered for future teaching opportunities as positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required; Graduate degree preferred.Valid Texas Teacher Certification is preferred. Selected candidates who do not hold a valid certification must obtain appropriate certification or credential within one year of hire to be considered for continued employmentESL certificationDemonstrated competency in assigned core academic subject areas.Demonstrated competency in IB Curriculum and Instruction desirable.Completion and successful results of the state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check is required.Ability to comply with all TEA regulations, applicable federal, state, and local laws, school policies, and standards of the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.Is legally able to work in the United States.Experience:* Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience.Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Continually strives to improve classroom methods, teaching techniques, increase knowledge of content subject matter, and interpersonal relationships.Effectively displays the ability to work collaboratively withUtilize effective communication skills to present information accurately andPossess exceptional pedagogical skills andDisplay strong organizational, communication, and interpersonalAccept and implement constructive feedback in a professionalUtilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learningAble to maintain confidential information pertaining to students, employees, volunteers, and the general operations of Westlake Academy.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborate regularly with the IB coordinators and teachers to design, implement, and reflect on IB unitCollaborates with the IB coordinators to produce supplementary teaching and learning materials that support IB conceptual understanding.Attend faculty meetings and other appropriate staffCommunicates regularly and appropriately with parents/guardians regarding their child's classroom performance; develops methods in support of classroom goals and teacher expectations in the homeMaintains professional relationships and communication with parents, students, and campus personnel; ensures that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately andStay informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Participate in professional development activities that are aligned with campus goals, assigned areas of responsibility, and the varied needs of students.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documentsAttend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees asOther DutiesAssists in the proctoring of public and internalAssists with educational visits relevant to their classes orPerforms other duties, as assigned by the PYP Principal, Principal, or Head of School.EVALUATIONThe performance of this job will be evaluated at least annually by the PYP Principal or Assistant Principal.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
