Senior Casualty Claims AdjusterThe Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster is an associate level position handling claims open to close. This role is responsible for directly handling complex, high dollar claims on behalf of a large, refrigerated truckload carrier. The successful candidate must be willing to handle all levels of claims and interact directly with our drivers, claimants, claims adjusters, other department personnel, and mid-level and senior management.The position is located in Dallas, Texas and is not remote but does not require travel.Key ResponsibilitiesInvestigating the facts and circumstances of each claim and making settlement decisions within authority levelServes as point of contact with respective parties, i.e., claimants, insurance companies, attorneys, pertinent to settlement negotiations and settlementsCommunicating with adjusters, appraisers and Stevens Transport Shop management to ensure photos are taken of damage to vehicles, replacement part prices are competitive, and labor costs are appropriate to repairsOn an as needed basis, reviews claim file for activity and disposition; ensures settled claim files and non active claim files placed into closed or non-active file statusEnsuring all claim activity recorded in claim "diary"; maintains claims "diary"Communicating with owner operators regarding accident claimsResponding to phone call regarding accidents and records accident information onto accident information formReviewing accident reports and makes determination concerning liability and valueMinimum QualificationsComprehensive knowledge of auto liability claims processAbility to speak, read and write English proficientlyAbility to interface with internal and external customers in a pleasant manner on an ongoing basisAbility to multitaskAbility to work claims files in timely mannerAbility to report to work according to work schedule as agreed upon with Supervisor/ManagerAbility to work outside of regular work schedule as directed and agreed upon with Supervisor/ManagerDemonstrated willingness to earn certification/licenseLanguage Skills: Proficient use of English language when speaking and conversing, ability to articulate facts and positionMath Skills: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skillsAbility to use good judgment and common senseAbility to analyze and solve complex problems requiring above average analytical skillsAbility to negotiate settlementPreferred QualificationsHigh school diplomaKnowledge and experience valuing claims and setting reservesExperience working with Defense Plaintiffs attorneysExperience working with disputed, pre-litigation and litigated mattersClaims Adjuster certification/licenseAbility to negotiate settlements of all sizesExperience with handling commercial truck claimsSelf-Starter, Self-Motivated, Personal Pride in managing claim files to resolutionSkills and AbilitiesClaims processingCase managementLoss investigationSubrogationCustomer serviceTime managementProblem solvingResearchNegotiationEvidence collectionDamages reviewLiability determinationBasic PC skills including Microsoft Office products, Word and ExcelPhysical DemandsAbility to sit for up to 4 hours at a timeAbility to lift up to 15 pounds as neededWork Experience5+ years prior experience conducting investigations in multi-party situationsWorkshift: M-F (Weekend Rotation) (United States of America)In compliance with Federal and State equal employment opportunity laws, qualified candidates are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, non-job-related disability, or any other protected group status.
