Senior Electrical Engineer / Control Systems EngineerLocation: Tucson, AZ (Onsite) Salary: $110,000 – $155,000 per yearJob Type: Full-Time Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain/maintain a DoD Security Clearance Role OverviewJoin a multidisciplinary team redefining ultrashort pulse laser and directed energy technologies for defense applications. You will lead the design, development, and integration of advanced beam directors and optical control systems for next-generation directed energy platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development: Lead custom electronics and control architecture design for precision laser operation, motion control (galvos, fast steering mirrors), and optical sub-systems.PCB Design: Layout custom printed circuit boards and manage vendor procurement for prototypes and production.Collaboration: Partner with software engineers to implement embedded systems and real-time control algorithms for laser stabilization and beam steering.Testing: Integrate, test, and debug electronic systems within integrated laser platforms.Optimization: Focus on SWaP (size, weight, and power) reduction and environmental robustness.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.Experience: 5+ years in control systems engineering or closely related disciplines.Technical Skills:Proficiency in simulation and CAD tools (Altium, PADS, OrCAD, LTspice, etc.).Knowledge of hardware interfaces/protocols (SPI, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, I2C).Experience with signal conditioning, low-noise design, and EMC/EMI best practices.Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements for ruggedized systems.Desired SkillsExperience with electronic controls for lasers or optical devices.Background in real-time embedded systems or aerospace/DoD development environments.BenefitsCompetitive salary and equity participation.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid Time Off (PTO), Federal holidays, and tuition/loan reimbursement.
